Care Connections / Veggie Cupboard
Care Connections is a volunteer outreach initiative aimed at strengthening the Barnwell community and enhancing quality of life through community-based services and programs and partnerships with other organizations. We serve with faith, humility, and compassion, and embrace service as a life-long commitment.
The Veggie Cupboard Community Garden, a project of Care Connections, serves as an edible education center and means of supplying fresh produce to the Barnwell community. Edible education provides hands-on experience that connects youth to food, nature and their community and teaches the values of health, nourishment and land stewardship. The Veggie Cupboard garden and greenhouse introduces youth to both traditional and unconventional methods of food growing, teaches eco-friendly sustainable methods to conserve energy and resources, and provides a space to grow and harvest fresh food for one’s self and family.
In addition to activities and workshops for the youth, the Veggie Cupboard will create special garden workshops and experiences open to the whole community.
